The Winter Holistic Medicine Cabinet

Winter is best known for the season of colds, flu, and icky feelings, but before you run to the nearest pharmacy for some over-the-counter meds filled with chemicals and artificial ingredients, how about you try putting together a holistic medicine cabinet instead?

For thousands of years, people have been using these natural approaches to fight bacteria, and toxins and keep their immunity strong. From herbs to vegetables, many of these ingredients can be found at your local grocery store. Now I do say to focus on trying to buy locally grown items, but if you can not, stick to organic. Worst case make sure to clean all your produce in a vinegar bath before using.

One of the best items to always have in the home is onions!! These bad boys will be your best friends when it comes to not only purifying your air but also riding the home of bacteria. Let's talk about ways to use the powerful beast.

Onion Air Purification and Toxin Collector.

Take red onions and cut them in halves. Now place them around the home where people mostly hang out. The onion acts like a sponge and absorbs all the nasty out of the air and away from you and your family breathing it in. Make sure to change out the onions every 2-3 days depending on if someone is sick in the home.

Onion Water

Take an onion and cut it up. Place the onion in a glass container with a lid and pour distilled or spring/filtered water over it. Allow this to sit for several days and you can drink the water to help build the immune system and keep it strong.

Onion Decongestant

Cut up a white onion and pour a teaspoon of sugar over it in a pot. Add water that just covers the onion and allow it to come to a boil. Remove from stove and allow to cool, but still be warm when served.

Onion on the feet

Here you want to cut an onion and place it at the bottom of the feet covered with a sock. Do this right before bed and then remove it in the morning. The onion will draw the toxins out of the body from the feet. Great to do at the early signs of illness.
